BRIEF HISTORY OF LASTVEB

The bill that established the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) was assigned into the law by the formal Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola on the 13th July, 2009. The Lagos State Law no. 1 of 2009 effective from 3rd May, 2010 when the Board was inaugurated, gave LASTVEB its existence. The headquarters of LASTVEB its existence. The headquarters of LASTVEB is located at Muiz Banire Street, opposite Lagos State Police Command, GRA-Ikeja.

LASTVEB since its establishment has no doubt evolved as a ‘GAME CHANGER” in the Technical and Vocational Education Sub-sector in Lagos State and Nigeria at Large in producing high quality technical skills in order to actualize the Lagos vision and nurture a technical and industrial attitude in the minds of young Lagosians.

HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE (GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE, ODOMOLA, EPE)

The Lagos State Government Technical College, Odomola-Epe (Formerly, Lagos State Industrial Manpower Centre) was established on 22nd October 1984. The Lagos State Chambers of Commerce and Industry made the move for its establishment, and it got the approval of the State Government. The College is situated at Odomola in Epe Local Government Area of the state which is about 96 kilometers away from the city of Lagos.

The College covers an area of about 50 hectares of land with a present, six (6) blocks of eight (8) workshops, one proto–type building having eight (8) classrooms and three (3) laboratories, and one (1) administrative block.

At inception, there were 200 students with two occupational trades; the Mechanical Craft Practice and Electrical Installation Works and Maintenance. At the moment, the occupational trades are risen from two (2) to sixteen (16).

Presently, the Staff strength of the college is put at fifty-four (54) Teaching and Trade Instructors, eight (8) Workshop Assistants’, five (5) Supporting Staff and three (3) Security men. The Students population is about hundred plus (1000+) as at 2025/2026 academic year session.

ADMINISTRATION OF THE COLLEGE

The College is headed by a Principal who is the Chief Administrative, Academic and Accounting officer of the College. The Principal is responsible to the Executive Secretary of Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB)
