programme is intended to produce competent craftsmen with knowledge and
practical skills To diagnose and carry out repairs and maintenance on various
farm implement and machinery.
The Agricultural Equipment and Implement
Mechanical Works trade at Government Technical College (GTC)
Odomola, Epe is tailored to equip students with the technical know-how to
support the mechanization of agriculture. This course focuses on the diagnosis,
maintenance, and repair of farming machinery, tools, and mechanical systems
used in agricultural production.
Students
will learn to:

Identify and
operate common farm machinery (tractors, tillers, ploughs, etc.)
·
Maintain and
repair engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems
·
Sharpen,
service, and calibrate manual and motorized implements
·
Fabricate
and modify simple tools and parts for local farming needs
·
Understand
safety procedures and environmental care in agricultural mechanics
·
Apply
preventive maintenance and fault diagnosis techniques
·
Work with
fuel systems, lubrication systems, and electrical components in agri-machines
This program combines classroom
instruction with practical hands-on training in workshops and field labs.
Students are trained to be job-ready for employment with farms, agro-service
firms, tractor companies, and as rural technicians. It also includes
entrepreneurship training to prepare students for setting up their own
agricultural service businesses.
OBJECTIVES
At the completion of
this course, the students are able to:

Handle, use and maintain all hand tools effectively.
·
Dismantle and re assemble any part of the standard
farm machinery and earthmoving equipment.
·
Dismantle, and re assemble [arts such as the engine,
clutch, gearbox, propeller shafts, fuel system, brakes and suspension system,
electrical system.
·
Diagnose fault and recommend means of rectifying these
faults.
·
Test-drive and analyze the performance of machinery
after repair exercises.
·
Differentiate the similarities between S.I and C.I
engines and carry out repairs accordingly.
